E. Frank Cornelius, PhD, JD, Arbitrator & Consultant

E. Frank Cornelius, PhD, JD, arbitrates all kinds of disputes, within the private sector, the public sector, and the federal government. His specialties are labor and other employment disputes; employee benefits cases, including withdrawal liability; and technical and scientific arbitrations. His arbitration opinions have been cited by federal courts, by other arbitrators, in legal treatises, in law reviews, in annotations, and in American Bar Association course materials.

Frank Cornelius received his PhD in mathematics from the University of Washington and his Juris Doctor (JD) law degree from the University of Michigan, after graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has worked in employee benefits since the passage of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) of 1974. He has been an arbitrator since 1983. Although he does not practice law, he consults with counsel on complex employee benefits and trade secrets issues. He remains active in mathematics teaching and research.
